CLAY KIT Clay Bar & Clay Lube Kit for Paint Decontamination

The Good Stuff Clay Kit combines Clay Lube with a medium-grade Work Stuff Spot Clay Bar in one focused clay bar kit for removing bonded contamination that remains after normal washing.

Use the lubricant to maintain safe glide while the clay works across the paint, leaving the surface smoother and better prepared for polishing, waxing, sealants or coating preparation.

2 Products. 1 Good Stuff Clay Lube. 1 Work Stuff Clay Bar.

This clay bar detailing kit is built around one specific job: mechanical paint decontamination. Clay Lube provides the lubrication needed for controlled glide, while the medium-grade Spot Clay Bar lifts bonded contamination from the surface after the wash stage.

— When Washing Is Not Enough

Clay removes bonded contamination that shampoo leaves behind.

Even after a proper wash, paint can still feel rough because tar, tree resin, road contamination and other particles remain bonded to the surface. A clay bar mechanically lifts that contamination instead of trying to dissolve every type of deposit with shampoo alone.

Clay Lube is essential to the process. It creates the lubricated working film needed for the Spot Clay Bar to glide with less friction. The goal is controlled decontamination, not aggressive rubbing. Never work a clay bar on dry paint.

— What's Inside the Clay Kit

Two brands. Two products. One claying process.

Good Stuff
1Lubricant
01 Clay Lube (250 ml) Dedicated clay lubricant that improves glide and reduces friction during mechanical decontamination

Kit-exclusive format: Clay Lube is supplied as part of the Clay Kit. The former standalone Clay Lube product now leads to this kit.

Work Stuff
1Clay Bar
01 Spot Clay Bar (50 g in kit) Medium-grade clay for regular mechanical decontamination and removal of bonded tar, resin and road contamination

Balanced grade: the kit uses a 50 g Spot Clay Bar. Work Stuff also offers Spot Clay Bar separately in larger 100 g and 200 g formats.

— How to Use the Clay Kit

Five steps from washed paint to a smoother decontaminated surface.

01

Wash & Dry

Wash the vehicle thoroughly to remove loose dirt before the clay touches the paint. The surface must be clean before mechanical decontamination begins.

02

Lubricate

Spray a generous amount of Clay Lube over a small working section. Keep the surface wet and slippery throughout the claying step.

03

Glide the Clay

Move the Spot Clay Bar in straight passes with light pressure. Let the clay do the work instead of pressing harder against the paint.

04

Inspect & Fold

Check the working face regularly. Fold and reshape the clay to expose a clean surface before continuing. If clay becomes heavily contaminated or falls on the ground, do not drag that contamination across the paint.

05

Wipe & Continue

Wipe the treated section with a clean microfiber towel, inspect the surface and continue panel by panel. Polish if needed, then apply your chosen protection.

— What Clay Decontamination Targets

When clean paint still feels rough.

01
Tar & Road Residue

Bonded deposits that remain attached after routine shampoo washing can be lifted mechanically from suitable paint surfaces.

02
Tree Sap & Resin

Clay helps remove stubborn bonded organic residue once the paint has been washed and properly lubricated.

03
Embedded Surface Contamination

Use the medium-grade Spot Clay Bar when the surface still feels gritty or rough after the normal wash stage.

04
Paint Preparation

A smoother decontaminated surface is the right starting point before polishing, waxing, sealing or coating preparation.

— Complete the Paint Preparation System

Want a more complete decontamination routine?

Clay Lube and Spot Clay Bar are everything included in the Clay Kit. For a complete preparation process, wash first, remove ferrous contamination chemically where needed, wipe each section with a clean microfiber and protect the paint after decontamination. The products below are recommended extras — they are not included in the box.

— Frequently Asked Questions

What detailers ask about clay bars and Clay Lube.

What is included in the Good Stuff Clay Kit?

The kit contains Good Stuff Clay Lube 250 ml and a 50 g Work Stuff Spot Clay Bar. Clay Lube provides lubrication and the medium-grade clay performs the mechanical decontamination step.

What does a clay bar do to car paint?

A clay bar mechanically lifts bonded contamination that can remain after washing, helping restore a smoother surface before polishing, waxing, sealing or other protection steps.

What is Clay Lube and why do I need it?

Clay Lube is a dedicated clay bar lubricant. It creates glide between the clay and paint, reducing friction and helping the clay move across the surface in a more controlled way.

Can I use a clay bar without lubricant?

No. Do not clay dry paint. Keep the working area generously lubricated and add more Clay Lube whenever the clay stops gliding freely.

Should I use Iron Remover before or after clay?

Use chemical iron decontamination first when the paint has ferrous contamination, rinse thoroughly, and then move to mechanical claying. This reduces the amount of contamination the clay has to pick up.

Do I need to polish after using a clay bar?

Not automatically. Inspect the paint after claying. If the surface shows marring, swirls or defects that you want to correct, polish before applying protection. If correction is not needed, proceed with a suitable wax, sealant or detailer.

When should I clay bar a car?

Clay when properly washed paint still feels rough or gritty because bonded contamination remains. It is especially useful as a preparation step before polishing or applying longer-term protection.

Can I still buy Clay Lube separately?

Clay Lube is now supplied through the Good Stuff Clay Kit rather than as a separate standalone product. The kit combines 250 ml of Clay Lube with a 50 g Spot Clay Bar for the complete claying step.
